Gault&Millau’s opinion Chef Olivier Beurné took charge of the kitchens of this beautiful house in Grisillon while retaining the Amphytrion in Lorient. He proclaims "bistronomic island" cuisine, which keeps its promise, around a narrow menu (3 starters, main courses, desserts according to the seasons) which draws as much as possible from the island's resources (fish, artichokes, snails , trinquette garlic…), despite exotic shrimps, which we are surprised to find on beautiful asparagus, whereas local gray shrimps would have more deserved to adorn this spring dish. As for the mackerel, it arrives in ceviche accompanied by a beet carpaccio, while the splendid julienne fillet is enhanced by a mustard cream, which is accompanied by a fine purée of turmeric carrots. Like the Breton farmhouse poultry supreme, dressed with celery root and oyster mushrooms, all the dishes then give way to an excellent hazelnut dacquoise with chocolate cream or the homemade dessert, “le chouchou de la Marine”, cute crispy cabbage served with ice cream, a very sweet caramel sauce and a tuile of buckwheat nougatine, shrunken but successful. 45 minutes from the continent, this beautiful hotel offers a gourmet and very reasonable stopover in a very pretty, bright room with superb furniture in both navy and Majorelle blue. Very relevant and very affordable wine list, both in bottle and in the many glasses available; sincere and pleasant service.
